Rail Grabber: from the iconic surf-inventor Linda Benson

Linda Benson, one of the iconic female surfers of 1960's, has invented a creative way of carrying a surfboard with ease. The "Rail Grabber" is a simple, yet functional light grip that will help you with surfboard transportation.

"Since I started surfing in 1959, I struggled with carrying the board. I designed Rail Grabber to help with this challenge and after my doctor suggested I stop carrying my surfboard on my hip", explains the Californian surfer girl.

"The first Rail Grabber was a very rustic version. It worked so well that I made more for my surf school kids. After searching for the right material and manufacturer, Rail Grabber was successfully launched in August 2011", adds Linda Benson.

Rail Grabber is made of durable, UV resistant ASA plastic. It is attached to a easy grip handle by a nylon cord, tensile strength of 1800 lbs. A pad made of closed cell eva material formulated for marine applications will grip and cushion your surfboard.

Train surfing: riding deadly lines

"I'm the Kelly Slater of train surfing". The author of these words, a 17-year-old young boy, has lost his life while riding on top of a train, in Australia.

James Wilkinson was train surfing on the roof of a city-bound train on the Pakenham line, in Melbourne, when the accident happened. He died of electrocution.

"We think there were about five people in the carriage that he was with at Caulfield station, and no doubt there was alcohol involved and the risk-taking kicks in and the rest is history", his father said.

Jamie O'Brien: next time, he'll take his entire quiver

Jamie O'Brien believes there's always something new to doin modern surfing. The creative Hawaiian icon decided to go surfing with two boards. No, it's not one surfboard for each foot. That would be wave skiing. O'Brien decided to test a two-board transfer while preparing to get barreled. Watch how he does it, here.

"I just think that the best surfer out there is the one having the most fun. Sometimes I see too much seriousness in the lineup. I'm trying to do something I've never done before, something different. I like a challenge", he told Surfline.

"I think riding two boards and the technicality of grabbing the board and pumping on that board is really hard. I just haven't made the right one yet and I really want to", he adds.

Shaun Brooks: rest in peace, mate | Photo: joliphotos.com

Shaun Brooks, a former pro surfer, has passed away at the age of 36. Shaun was the son of Rod Brooks, the Quiksilver contest director, and brother of Troy, former World Tour surfer.

The Australian was considered one of the best surfers of his generation, in his country. He conquered the Victorian Open Championship, when he was still a young rider, and a World Junior Championship.

"One of the Vicco boys called me this morning because I was one of the guys Brooko travelled with on tour," he said. "I know he'd been sick for a long time with bipolar but that's all I know. Everyone is obviously very shaken", Jarrad Howse told.

Our friends at StabMag reports that Beau Emerton, an old friend, remembers Shaun Brooks as someone with "a very similar style to Mark Richards in his day, like the seagull".
